Clara Vigil was born in Montrose, Colo. on January 20, 1929. She was the first child of Eufracio and Luisa Vigil.
Married Jose Antonio Lobato November 14, 1945 in Dragerton, Utah. Clara was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Parish in Salt Lake City, Utah. After her husband's death in 1976, Clara enrolled in Salt Lake Community College and successfully completed course requirements, earning a degree as a licensed practical nurse.Clara was raised in Montrose, Colo. Many times she recalled precious stories of her favorite cousins: Esther, Catherine and Jimmy. Mom attended school thru the eighth grade, she met a handsome young man, "Dave"; soon they were married and began to raise a family. By the time Mom was 25 years old, she had seven children: Little Dave, Tiny, Jimmy, Dale, Ricky, Chucky and Mary Ann.
About this time Mom and Dad moved to Salt Lake City to find other careers than the coal mines of Park City and East Carbon County offered. Mom worked many jobs to help make ends meet. She worked at the "Poultry" with a lot of other young Mexican women such as Mrs. Mendez. She worked at St. Joseph's Villa with other Mexican women: Tilly Cordova, Martha Flores and many others that became comadres or long lasting friends.
In the old days, Mom and Dad would spend much of their free time visiting family that lived in Salt Lake, Ogden, Dragerton, New Mexico and Colorado. We knew our family because Mom and Dad took the time to build these family bonds. Thank you, Mom and Dad.
Clara's husband "Dave" died in 1976. Together they raised their children. Mom was proud of us all.
