Winter D. Horton Jr., special projects director for Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah, will be nominated by President Clinton to serve as a member of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
Horton, who is president of Young Oak Foundation and was communications director for Bennett from 1993 to 1994, has extensive experience in television broadcasting.He was president from 1971 to 1989 of Centre Films Inc., and was development consultant for the Children's Television Workshop from 1972 to 1973. He was also vice president for development for the National Educational Television. In addition, he was a television producer at Benton & Bowles Advertising and at KFSD in San Diego. He co-founded KCET, the public television station in Los Angeles. He was vice president of marketing for Franklin Quest from 1989 to 1992.
CPB is a private, nonprofit entity, authorized by the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967. It was founded to provide "high quality, informational and cultural programming," the news release states. The CPB Board sets policies and establishes programming priorities for the corporation.
