Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old girl Wednesday.

Blake Tademy, 25, was arrested without incident at a friend's house, 1480 W. 2336 South, early Saturday, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Kyle Jones. Police were following several leads in the area when an officer spotted Tademy inside the house.Tademy was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of the slaying of Nicole Lee Kirby, Jones said. Tademy's friend was also taken into custody on an outstanding warrant and possession of a firearm by a restricted person.

Police found Kirby dying from a gunshot wound to the head in her apartment, 771 S. 200 East, after the apartment manager called saying he had heard a gunshot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting, Jones said.
