Laurie Ann Mitchell Hansen, 44, of Orem, was born in Richland, Washington Feb. 17, 1953, to Linas Moad and Margie Maurine Taysom Mitchell. She died March 28, 1997 comfortably at home of cancer.

She graduated from Columbia High School in Richland, Washington and attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University. She married Scott W. Hansen, August 1, 1975 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of five children. She was a active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved people, was a faithful friend, and treasured her opportunities to serve in the Relief Socity, as president of the Primary, and with the Young Women of the church. She loved little children of the Primary, marveled at the strength of the youth, and enjoyed the precious time she spend with our wonderful neighbors and her many fine friends. Laure had a marvelous capacity to love, so motherhood was especially exciting and fun for her. Her family was a great source of joy and happiness to her.

She was a devoted and selfless companion and parent; interested and involved in their lives, ever encouraging, and always supportive. She loved her extended family, all of the nieces and nephews, and looked forward to new born babies, and spending time with each of them.

We as a family, are grateful to know she has been allowed to return to her loving Heavenly Father, having done her part in this life. We are grateful for her and we'll miss her dearly.

She is survived by her husband, Scott, her children, Tyler Scott Hansen (20), serving an LDS mission in Fukuoka, Japan, Travis Mitchell Hansen (18), Landon Christopher Hansen (15), Heather Ann Hansen and Hollie Maurine Hansen (12 year old twins), all of Orem; her father and step-mother, Linas M. and Vernell Mitchell; one brother and sister, Ron and Mimi Mitchell, Richard, of Washington; Patti and DelRay Sanderson, of Provo. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margie Maurine Taysom Mitchell.
