MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: The top-ranked Cougar volleyball team defeated visiting Loyola University of Chicago, ranked 18th, in four games of 15-6, 9-15, 15-6 and 15-8.

As in most BYU games, Ryan Millar, a sophomore from Lancaster, Calif., led the team in kills with 23.

Ingo Lindemann, a sophomore from Bonn, Germany, was only one behind Millar with 22 kills.

Since booming left-handed server Ossie Antonetti broke his hand last week, the team had to resort to a new system.

"I'm surprised they did so well considering we are using this new system," coach Carl McGown said. "I am really proud of them and what they have accomplished."

McGown praised Chris Pitzak. "He played really, really well."

The Cougars will play eighth ranked Ball State University in the Smith Fieldhouse, tonight at 7.

WOMEN'S TENNIS: Losing their first home indoor match of the season was not what BYU's women's tennis team had in mind. The Cougar team dropped the dual match to Wisconsin 6-3 Friday.

The defeat brings BYU's record to 5-3 on the season.

Team captain, Angela Jewell won the only singles match for BYU, defeating the Badgers Barbara Urbanska in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
