Brigham Young University's Joseph Fielding Smith Institute for Church History has awarded six summer research fellowships to advanced undergraduates and graduate students from throughout the nation.
Those chosen are Allison Clark, Boston University; Kathleen Flake, University of Chicago; David Holland, Don Bradley and Tim Robinson of BYU; and Elizabeth Goodliffe, Pomona College.They will join Richard L. Bushman, Gouverneur Morris Professor of History at Columbia Uni-versity and noted Latter-day Saint historian, in an eight-week intensive effort searching early 19th-century printed materials on microcard or microfilm in the Harold B. Lee Library.
After researching the cultural background of the early American society at the time of Joseph Smith, they will produce working papers and reports to be preserved as the Archives of Restoration Culture in the library.
