Reid Cole Bosworth, 77, passed away March 31, 1997, a his home in Preston following a lingering illness.

He was born July 4, 1919, in Preston, to Ephraim and Elizabeth Cole Bosworth, the youngest of six brothers and two sisters. He was raised on a farm and was taught the value of hard work at an early age, selling farm produce in several areas from Downey, ID to Salt Lake City. He attended high school at South High in Salt Lake. He married Alice Pond in Lewiston, UT. They were later divorced. He married Jenell Larson on January 26, 1947. She passed away on January 23, 1988. He married Laurene Harmer May 23, 1990.Reid was instrumental in opening all of the U&I Furniture Stores in Salt Lake, Ogden, Logan, and Preston, along with his brothers and father. He owned and managed U&I Furniture in Preston until his passing. He was an exceptional salesman and was well respected in the furniture and appliance business. His business expertise provided him opportunities to travel extensively in many parts of the world. He was active in his community as a charter member of the Preston Elks Lodge, a member of the local Rotary Chapter, and served as president of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a lifetime charter member and original financial contributor of the Preston Golf & County Club. He loved to play golf, hunt pheasants, and was an excellent outdoor cook. Above all, he liked to sell and associate with people in his store.

He is survived by his wife, Laurene, Preston; two sons, Craig Hausler, North Pole, AK; Dennis Bosworth, Preston; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Auston) Johnson, Murray; six grandchildren, David Auston Johnson, Eric Allen Johnson, Brian Craig Johnson, Ryan Cole Bosworth, Alison Bosworth and Scott Bosworth, a brother, Oran Bosworth, Preston; and a sister, Phyllis Gygi, Scottsdale, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Harold, Wendell, Elmer, Curt, and a sister, Dornette Clausan.

Funeral services were held Thurs., April 3, 1997 at 12 noon in the Preston South Stake Center with Brother Steve Larsen conducting. Burial was in the Weston, Idaho Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
