Gen. Pat Condon, the commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill Air Force Base, will retire from the post he has held for more than 21/2 years.
Condon's retirement was announced Thursday by the Air Force Materiel Command and will take effect Aug. 11."This has been my best assignment, and I've enjoyed the work and the people enormously," Condon said. "Utah and Hill Air Force Base are the best-kept secrets in the Air Force."
The 54-year-old Condon said he and his wife, Judith, will remain in the Ogden area.
The Miami, Fla., native graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1964 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was commissioned a second lieutenant May 31, 1964. Condon also holds a doctorate in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas.
During his 33-year military career, Condon worked for four years on the Skylab and Apollo programs at the NASA Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston. He became head of the Ogden ALC in November 1994.
Air Force officials said Condon's replacement will be appointed before he leaves.
