William Joy Patterson, 92, died May 28, 1997.
Born December 11, 1904 in Preston, Idaho to William McGregor and Sarah Anne Patterson. Attended schools in Banida and Preston, Idaho. Married Aurora Call Patterson, April 25, 1927 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in the YMMIA, Sunday School presidency, teacher, Gospel Doctrine class president. He was an agent with Prudential and New York Life Insurance Companies. He was a world class marksman and outdoorsman. Past president of Utah Rifle and Pistol Association. Devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather.Survivors: son, William Kent (Joyce) Patterson; daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Elden A.) Brown, Janyce (Mrs. Robert E.) Fisher, Claudia (Mrs. Philip) Summerhays; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Loyal E. Patterson; sisters, Orpha May and Gayle Caldwell.
Funeral services Monday, June 2, 1997, 12 Noon, 27th East Ward Chapel, 1300 E. Fairfax Rd. (off Virginia St.). Friends and family may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Sunday 6-8 p.m. and at the church Monday, one hour prior to the service. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
