George J. Russell, age 74, passed away on June 8, 1997 at his home with his loving wife and family at this side.
He was born September 16, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Nora Naylor and George Henry Russell. He married Martha Atkinson on February 8, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on December 2, 1949. Martha passed away on November 25, 1975. George married Anne Hurst on May 8, 1976 in the Salt Lake Temple.George grew up in the Murray Cottonwood Area and graduated from Granite High School. He served in the Army Aircorp during World War II. George and Anne served faithfully in the Oregon, Portland Mission. He served the Lord in many callings throughout his life including 12 years as a Temple Ordinance Worker.
He is survived by his wife, Anne of West Point, Utah; their daughters, Sandy (Merril) Burgess, West Jordan, Utah; Vickie (John) White, Jamestown, California; Diane (Richard) Irey and Nancy (Bruce) Sailor, both of West Jordan, Utah; Robyn (Brent) Stapely, West Richland, Washington; Susan (Greg) Ward, Holladay; Donna Solomon, Ogden; Jody (Vic) Larsen, Debois, Idaho; their sons, Stan (Marilyn) Russell, Sandy; Carl (Cindy) Hurst, Jr., Layton; Douglas (Donna) Hurst, Ogden; 47 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; also survived by two sisters, Lyla (Lynn) Bishop, Lindon; Marilyn Pearson, Colleyville, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 1997 at 11 a.m. at the West Point, Utah 5th Ward Chapel, 3488 West 300 North, West Point, Utah. Friends may call on Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at the Lindquist Layton Mortuary, 1074 North Fairfield Road, and 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, 17th East 106th South, Sandy, Utah.
