Bill Cosby refuses to take a blood test to determine whether he fathered a 22-year-old woman accused of trying to extort $40 million from him.
The defense request for a blood test is a distraction that is not relevant to the trial of Autumn Jackson, Cosby's lawyer, Andrew Schau, said in letters to Jackson's lawyer, Robert Baum.Prosecutors agreed that the paternity issue has no bearing on the extortion case. Jury selection is to begin Monday in New York.
Cosby, who has admitted having an affair with Jackson's mother, has said he does not believe he is Jackson's father but acknowledges that he supported her financially until she left school.
