Jerry Myron Anderson, born December 31, 1939, in Clearbrook, Minnesota, died when his helicopter crashed in the Amazon Jungle in Peru, August 21, 1997.
Jerry graduated from the Universities of Minnesota and Utah with degrees in geology, geophysics and served with the US Airforce Military Intelligence four years as a Russian linguist in Turkey. He was in oil exploration 23 years, 18 years with Mobil Oil working in California, Texas, Colorado, Alaska, Norway, Asia, Indonesia, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. In recent years he did private consulting and was a partner in Antwerp Geophysical. Jerry was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Plano, Texas.Survived by his wife of 24 years, Shirley Collard Anderson of Plano, Texas; he was the loving father of daughters, Amyjoy, Melody, and Julie Anderson, all of Plano, Texas. Also surviving are sisters, Maralyn Hill, Minnesota; Joyce Iverson, Oklahoma; Claudia Caspar, California; and brothers, Orlyn, Norvald, and Karsten, all of Minnesota; Hyle, South Dakota; aunts, Clara Anderson, Ruth Leister and Rosella Tidgwell, all of Minnesota; and uncle, Albert Anderson, Illinois. Preceded in death by his parents, Oscar M. and Marcella F. Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 30, 1997 at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive where family and friends may call from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
