KLO (AM-1430) is Ogden's oldest radio station, having started up in 1924. Only KSL and KDYL are older.

After decades of having its transmitter in Roy, western Weber County, the station is now looking to move it 12 miles southeast to west Kaysville.Station general manager John Webb said moving the transmitter is an attempt to expand the audience for KLO's nostalgic music format.

KLO can currently be received in only parts of Salt Lake County.

Webb hopes KLO's new transmitter will be operational by Jan. 1, depending on the weather.

KLO's sister station is KBZN ("The Breeze," FM-97.9). KLO is the only Utah radio station besides KSL to have just three call letters.

- AMANDA IS BACK - KSL (AM-1160) has brought back Amanda Dickson to the morning show (weekdays 5:30-10 a.m.) with Grant Nielsen. This means last month's rumors about her impending return were true.

Dickson replaced Chere Wood, who was fired Aug. 15. Ironically, Wood had replaced Dick-son in early 1996 after Dickson left the station to pursue a law career.

Now Dickson has quit her job in the S.L. firm of Clyde Snow & Swenson to rejoin KSL.

Nielsen and Dickson had produced some of the KSL's best-ever ratings in the 1990s. In at least one ratings book, their audience was estimated to be even greater than KSFI's.

Dickson came on the air this week sounding smooth, as if she had never left.

Ironically, when Dickson returned to the air Monday, she had to cope with the aftermath of a losing bet. Nielsen had made a wager last week on the outcome of the BYU-Washington football game with some of his former radio colleagues in Seattle. To fulfill the bet, the two KSL news hosts had to bark like a dog on the air.

No word yet on where Wood has ended up.
