Greg Williams, assistant coach of the Utah Starzz, and the 5 a Day Association of Utah, will host a "5 a Day Family Fest" today at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi.
The gathering, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., is aimed at encouraging young children and their parents to include more fruits and vegetables in their diet. Organization leaders say most children eat considerably less than the recommended five daily servings of fruits and vegetables. And they say 50 percent of children eat no fruit on a given day.At the Utah County site, located at 2095 N. West Frontage Road, the group will unveil a new interactive 5 a Day display and a 5 a Day bus at 1:30 p.m. Williams will also sign autographs. Costume character Bobby Banana will greet visitors. A watermelon eating contest, a scavenger hunt, apple bobbing and a puppet show are also planned.
