A bodyguard for rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg pleaded guilty to stalking a former girlfriend and was given a 16-month prison sentence.

McKinley Malik Lee, 27, had pleaded no contest in January to a felony charge that he stalked the 25-year-old woman. But while awaiting sentencing, Lee was accused of contacting her, a violation of the plea agreement. That allegation meant he could have faced a prison term instead of probation. Lee opted to go to trial but on Thursday entered the guilty plea.

Last year, Lee and Snoop were acquitted of murder charges in the 1993 slaying of a 20-year-old reputed gang member. Lee admitted shooting Phillip Woldermariam, but a jury found that he acted in self-defense.
