Deseret Book Co. said Tuesday that Virginia Hinckley Pearce and Donald S. Gull, both of Salt Lake City, have joined the company's board of directors.
Pearce holds a bachelor of science degree and a master's degree in social work from the University of Utah and holds a license in clinical social work. She has worked as a therapist in both public and private practice and currently serves on the advisory board of Brigham Young University's Graduate School of Social Work.She has co-authored five children's books and has taught classes in children's literature with Salt Lake City Continuing Education.
She and her husband, Dr. James R. Pearce, are the parents of six children and have eight grandchildren.
Gull is managing director of the Odyssey Group in Salt Lake City. He holds a bachelor of science degree from Brigham Young University and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He was previously chairman and CEO of Hudson Printing Co.; chair-man and CEO of Wells International; partner in Arthur Taylor & Co.; assistant vice president of marketing for American Airlines; assistant to the president of CBS Inc.; and director of investments for International Paper Co. He founded the Entertainment Channel, which has become the Arts and Entertainment Network cable TV channel.
Current and former board memberships include the Utah Symphony, Blue Ribbon Committee for Health Care Reform in Utah; Utahns for Non-profit Hospitals; Direct Merchants Credit Card Bank and others.
Gull and his wife Dana Price Gull have five children and three grandchildren.
