rushed for 1,591 yards and 24 touchdowns on 204 carries. He also had 302
yards and two TDs receiving, and he averaged 39.1 yards a punt for the
Wolverines.
QUARTERBACKS
JAKE SCHROEDER, Bingham, 6-2, 180, Sr.
Passed for 1,862 yards and 14 TDs on 63 percent. 'I have not had a QB in my many years of coaching come in his senior year and do what he did." -- Coach Son Sudbury.
CASEY REHRER, Mountain View, 6-0, 165, Jr.
Prolific passer threw for a school record 2,387 yards and 25 TDs and rushed for 377 yards and six scores in one of the most potent offenses in the state.
RUNNING BACKS
FAHU TAHI, Granger, 6-0, 215, Sr.
Outstanding running back had a terrific prep career for the Lancers. He rushed for over 2,000 yards during his junior and senior seasons. Also a dominating linebacker.
SAIA VAIVAKA, Jordan, 5-9, 210, Sr.
Combined power and speed to gain 1,374 yards and 15 TDs rushing, and he was a hard-hitter on defense in helping the Beetdiggers make it to championship.
JOE LOMU, Hunter, 5-9, 190, Sr.
Pounded out 852 yards on 133 rushes (6.4 yards/carry). He scored a total of 15 touchdowns. "A great talent." -- Coach John Lambourne.
WIDE RECEIVERS
CHRIS HALE, Orem, 5-10, 170, Sr.
Receiver turned on the jets for 52 receptions and set a state record for 311 yards receiving in one game. He also had 1,000-plus all-purpose yards.
GREG BLACK, Hillcrest, 5-9, 160, Sr.
Flashy receiver had 39 receptions and nine touchdowns, including two game-winners. He was also a terrific punt and kick returner.
TIGHT END
JEREMY GILLESPIE, Mountain View, 6-5, 235, Sr.
Standout had 34 receptions for 465 yards and four touchdowns. "He's a very good blocker, has a big frame for a target and has sure hands." -- Coach Randy Rehrer.
OFFENSIVE LINEMEN
GREG MARDEN, Jordan, 6-1, 215, Sr.
Three-year starter is a two-time first-teamer for his standout work in Jordan's trenches. He also had 100 tackles, 12.5 sacks and five hurries.
MITCH ARQUETTE, Davis, 6-5, 280, Sr.
Heavily recruited O-lineman was a two-year starter and a team captain. He was a big part of the success of the Darts' resurgence this season.
WES AMOSA, Hunter, 6-0, 240, Sr.
Tough two-year starter graded high and opened big holes for Hunter's great RBs. "A tremendous center and the leader of our O-line." -- Coach John Lambourne.
NATE FREDRICK, Skyline, 6-3, 215, Sr.
Top-notch lineman played both ways for Eagles, which is a rarity. "He just did an outstanding job for us, great stamina and athletic ability." -- Coach Roger DuPaix.
BERT SHEFFER, Mountain View, 6-3, 255, Sr.
Provided good protection from right tackle position and had 80 tackles on D. "Both ways he was very solid." -- Coach Randy Rehrer.
DEFENSIVE LINEMEN
RYON BINGHAM, Alta, 6-4, 265, Sr.
Nebraska recruit was a fierce lineman who had 87 tackles and 14 sacks. "He eats, sleeps and drinks football. We might see him in the NFL." -- Coach Mitch Lunak.
MIKE McLEOD, Jordan, 5-11, 295, Sr.
Tortured offensive lines with 77 tackles and 10 QB hurries. "He was the anchor of our D-line. He's very quick." -- Coach Jim Birch.
BLAKE HANSEN, Hillcrest, 6-6, 215, Sr.
Basketball star totaled 87 tackles, 12 sacks and 12 deflections. He returned an interception in the semifinal game. Smart player has 3.9 GPA, 32 ACT score.
HENRY TAUFALELE, Hunter, 5-9, 245, Sr.
Key cog in O-line and anchor of defense had 102 tackles. "Quick, strong and aggressive -- one of the most effective nose guards we've had." -- Coach John Lambourne.
LINEBACKERS
COLBY BOCKWOLDT, Northridge, 6-3, 210, Sr.
Was one of the most dominating players in the state who could change course of game by himself. He had 98 tackles, and he caused and recovered six fumbles.
D.J. THAYNE, Jordan, 5-10, 185, Sr.
Tough defender was a nice addition to Jordan's backfield as well. He made 96 tackles, four sacks, two INTs and recovered two fumbles.
TOM SCHRIEVER, Skyline, 6-0, 200, Sr.
He was a force all year and stepped it up in the title game with seven solo tackles, two sacks and a blocked kick. "He was the heart of our defense." -- Coach Roger DuPaix.
DEFENSIVE BACKS
SHAWN KOJIMA, Hillcrest, 5-9, 160, Sr.
Two-year starter, who was a QB, DB and punter, did a bit of everything for the Huskies. "Toughest kid I've ever coached." -- Coach Lee Leslie.
DARIUS McCORMICK, Skyline, 5-11, 185, Sr.
Speedy DB batted away 16 passes and had a spectacular play in finals when he stole the ball from a Jordan RB and ran it back for a TD. "He was consistent." -- Coach Roger DuPaix.
GRADY MARSHALL, Skyline, 6-0, 180, Sr.
Mirrored the Eagles in the sense that he kept getting better as the season progressed. He was the only Skyline player to score on offense, defense and special teams.
JEFF LEE, Viewmont, 6-1, 190, Sr.
Vikings' best playmaker ended as one of top five rushers in school history and was everywhere on defense. "He salvaged our season." -- Coach Ross Harris.
KICKER
JUSTIN HAMBLIN, Clearfield, 5-10, 160, Sr.
He booted field goals of 47 and 45 yards in one game for Falcons and was steady all year. "He was a real surprise to us." -- Coach Randy Johnson.
PUNTER
DANNY BEECROFT, Skyline, 6-0, 165, Sr.
Poised under the pressure of being the Skyline QB. He was also the best punter in the state, averaging 47 yards a kick without a block. "Played with a lot of courage." -- Coach Roger DuPaix.
SPECIALIST
DONNIE SABA, Brighton, 5-11, 180, Sr.
Flashy all-around star averaged an eye-popping 9.2 yards per rush (for 1,000-plus yards) and 18 yards per catch. The baseball standout also scored 13 TDs.
