Elder Kenton Leigh Martin, age 20, was called home to our Heavenly Father on March 27, 1998, as a result of a traffic accident. He was serving our Savior as a missionary in the Florida, Tallahassee Mission of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was born February 23, 1978 in Rexburg, Idaho, son of James Donald and Linda Lawrence Martin. Kenton graduated with honors in the first graduating class from Copper Hills High School in 1996, where he maintained a near perfect 4.0 GPA. He was the school's first Sterling Scholar Representative in Science. Following graduation, he attended Ricks College as a pre-med major. Kenton loved life. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He was bright, cheerful, and very athletic. He was an avid Utah Jazz and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He had a beautiful singing voice and loved music.Kenton is survived by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. J. Don Martin, South Jordan; brothers, Shane and wife, Rachelle, Sandy; Kelby; sisters, Kari Ann and Amber "Kami", all of South Jordan; nephew, Kolton, Sandy; maternal grandparents, Wes and Lila Lawrence, Rexburg, ID; paternal grandmother, June Martin, La Jara, CO. Kenton was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Gale Martin.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 1:30 p.m., at the Glenmoor Stake Center, 4200 West Skye Drive (9800 South). Friends may call Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m., at McDougal West Jordan Mortuary, 1861 West 7800 South, and Wednesday at church, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery.
