Florence Robinson Beck, age 92, died at her home in Provo, Utah, on May 16, 1998.

She was born December 3, 1905, in Mapleton, Utah, to Walter and Nellie Ross Robinson. She married D. Elden Beck on May 31, 1933, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.She was educated in Provo schools and graduated from BYU with a degree in clothing and textiles and an art minor. At BYU she was affiliated with Nautilus, a campus social unit.

After graduation, she taught home economics and English at Spanish Fork High School, and later, Springville High School. She also did graduate work at Iowa State University.

Her early married life was spent in St. George, Utah, where her husband taught at Dixie College. While there, she was active in church, college, and community affairs. Southern Utah was always dear to her heart.

After returning to Provo, where her husband taught at BYU, she was involved with BYU Women. She worked at the University as a special instructor of Homemaking Education and was also employed at the bookstore. She was associated with the Provo Women's Council, the Fine Arts Club, and Bookmark reading group.

She traveled widely in North America, Europe, and lived in the Far East, where her husband worked for the World Health Organization. She was an excellent seamstress and artist. She also loved BYU football and rarely missed a home game.

An active member of the LDS Church, she taught in all of the auxiliary organizations and served in various administrative positions. She also worked in the Provo LDS Temple.

She is survived by four children, Janet Clark (Jon), Brent Beck (Fae), Linda Bullough (Brent), and Larry Beck, all of Provo; 21 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Iris Robinson Creer.

Her husband, D. Elden Beck; a brother, Rondo Robinson; a sister, Phyllis Long; and a grandson, Peter Elden Clark, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 20 at 12 noon in the Oak Hills Stake Center Chapel, 925 East North Temple Drive. Friends and family may call at Berg Mortuary in Provo, 185 East Center Street, on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday at the Stake Center from 11-11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Hills in Provo.
