Donald Freeze Folland died suddenly on the afternoon of June 16, 1998, after 38 years of controlling his coronary heart disease.
He was born November 23, 1910 in Salt Lake City, son of William H. and Grace Freeze Folland. He married Eloise Stoker, October 31, 1940, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He was an active High Priest in the LDS Church, holding positions of leadership including two bishoprics. He graduated from the University of Utah and California Institute of Technology, then worked for Sperry Univac and Convair Astronautics as an electronics engineer. He was a member and former Chairman, Utah section of IEEE and received the IEEE Community Service Award two separate years."Bedstafa" will be remembered for his contagious sharing of his love of nature, his love of photography and his thousands of photographs; his travelogues; his alert and inquiring mind; his fun sense of humor; and his love and caring for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise; brother, Edward; sister-in-law, Helen Folland; and children, Marian (Dan) Spencer, David (Betsy), Richard, Patricia (Don) Gresham, and Douglas (Sharon); 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harold.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 19, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 2350 E. 1300 S. Friends may visit Thursday evening at the mortuary from 6-8 p.m. and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. the day of the service.
