Soul pioneer Rufus Thomas, best known for hits such as "Walking the Dog," and "Do The Funky Chicken," is recovering from triple heart-bypass surgery.

Thomas, 81, was admitted to the hospital in Memphis a week ago after suffering chest pains. He underwent six hours of surgery on Friday, his son said.*****
