A narcotics dealer who shot a man to death in 1988 while trying to collect a drug debt was executed in Texas on Wednesday by injection, witnesses said.

They said Genaro Camacho, 43, died at 6:49 p.m MDT at a state prison in Huntsville.In his final words, Camacho told family members witnessing his death that he loved them and would see them in the afterlife.

"I'll be waiting for you in heaven," he said. Then, in Spanish, Camacho said, "I love you, I love you. Be with me."

In unison, the family members, who included his ex-wife, two daughters and a son, said, "We are right here."
