SAFFIRE CORP.'S OPEN HOUSE IS FRIDAY AT NEW QUARTERS

PLEASANT GROVE -- Saffire Corp., one of the world's premier video game development firms, will host an open house, Friday, Jan. 15, 3-6 p.m. at its new headquarters, 754 W. 700 South. A ribbon cutting will be held at 4 p.m.Visitors will be able to sample some of the games the company produces and watch artists create scenes from Saffire's newest work in progress. Saffire is a home grown company that is making a big splash in the world of video games. The company employs approximately 50 programmers, artists, writers and other employees.

GRAND OPENING SET FRIDAY AND SATURDAY FOR FITQUEST

OREM -- FitQuest, a new 8,000-square-foot fitness facility, will host a grand opening for the public Friday, Jan. 15, and Saturday, Jan. 16, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., at their center, 147 W. 400 North.

Visitors are invited to tour the facility, try out the equipment, meet with the dietitian, physical therapists and licensed trainers.

This innovative center caters exclusively to the "over 30" crowd with state-of-the-art exercise equipment, dietary counseling, the latest body measurement monitors, complete massage therapy, licensed physical therapists and modern new facility.

PETS CAN GET IN-HOME CARE WHEN THEIR OWNERS ARE AWAY

LEHI -- A new business makes it easier to leave pets at home while owners are on vacation or away for the holidays.

TLC Pet Sitting provides in-home pet care so the animals remain in the comfort and familiarity of home as an alternative to kennels or leaving pets with family or friends.

Owner D'Le Borg said the pet sitters will visit the home daily to feed, water and care for the animals. They will also bring in the newspaper and mail, water houseplants and even turn lights off and on. For more information, call Borg at 766-1669.

PROVO COMPANY TO CONSTRUCT SMALL RETAIL AND OFFICE CENTER

PROVO -- A local development company plans to build a small retail and office center near Independence High School.

Georgetown Development intends to design the stores and professional offices at 820 N. 1760 West around a railroad them and call it Whistle Stop Station. Possible tenants include a convenience store/gas station, dry cleaners, video store and beauty shop. Retail space would cover about 10,200 square-feet while office space totals 5,600 square-feet.

The City Council paved the way for the project by changing the land-use designation on two acres from low-density housing to shopping center.

Georgetown hopes to obtain the necessary city approval over the next few months and begin construction next spring or summer.

2 L.A. CHEFS INVITED TO COOK AT SUNDANCE JAN. 26 AND 27

SUNDANCE -- Chefs Josiah Citrin and Raphael Lunetta of Los Angeles have been invited by Sundance's executive chef, Trey Forshee to cook with him, Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 26-27.

The event will consist of two five-six course tasting menus on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and a Wednesday afternoon cooking class. The series will continue through 1999. Interested participants may contact Sundance, 225-4107.

Citrin and Lunetta are owners and renowned chefs of JiRaffe, located in Santa Monica, Calif. They were named to the prestigious group of "Top Ten New Chefs" by Food and Wine Magazine in April 1997.
