Helen Bird Anderson Champneys, 86, died at her home in Holladay on Dec. 11, 1999. Born Aug. 16, 1913 in Gunnison, Utah, she was the sixth of nine children born to Edward Harry Bird and Lucy Edna Gribble.
She grew up in Milford, Utah where she met and married J. Lee Anderson on Oct. 23, 1934. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. J. Lee died Oct. 15, 1963. She married Owen I. Champneys Jan. 19, 1970, who died April 22, 1999.Helen worked as a nurse for many years. She later worked for the University of Utah Printing Department until her retirement. Her greatest accomplishments however, were as a wife, mother and grandmother. She was an enthusiastic supporter of those she loved.
She is survived by her children, Max Lee (Shirley) Anderson of San Jose, CA and LaNeal (Gordon) Livingston of Cincinnati, OH; four grandsons, Brandon, Kyle and Brett Livingston and Jeffrey Anderson; three sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Ardith) Miller, Salt Lake City, Luella Fisher, Woodland, CA, and Elma Hardy, Cedar City, UT. Preceding her in death were her husbands; a grandson, Mason Livingston; brothers, Lavon, Rulon, and Donald Bird; and sisters Erma Bird and Verna Tomsik.
Services will be held Tues. Dec. 14, 1999 at Memorial Estates Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East at 11 a.m. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road.
