ROOSEVELT--Alva Crosby Snow, age 80, died Dec. 11, 1999 in Phoenix, AZ, from injuries received in an automobile

accident.He was born October 10, 1919 in St. George to Leo A. and Lula Pendleton

Snow. He married Jean Olsen June 26, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Jean

died December 9, 1998. He married Beulah Humphries Cargill, May 1999.

Alva graduated from Dixie High School, Dixie Junior College and Utah

State University, and has received an honorary Doctorate from Southern

Utah University.

He served a mission to the Eastern States Mission.

He was a longtime rancher and businessman in Roosevelt.

Enjoyed hunting

deer and pheasant, and fishing when he was younger. He has served on

the Board of Trustees for Utah State University, 14 years, and

Snow College, eight years, as founder and advisory board chairman for the Uintah Basin campus for USU, was the hospital board chairman for 10 years and

was serving there when the present hospital was built. He served many

years in scouting and is a recipient of the Silver Beaver award. He was active in the LDS Church, serving as Bishop of the Roosevelt 3rd Ward, Roosevelt Stake President, Stake Patriarch, President of the

Seattle Washington Mission and the first President of the Vernal Utah

Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Beulah, of Roosevelt; Ten children and spouses: Lynn and Janet Snow, Gordon and Sarah Snow, all Roosevelt; Marilyn and Roger Smith, Idaho Falls; Marlon and Ann Snow, Orem;

Kathleen and Tom Jenkins, Roosevelt; AlJean and Keith Foley, Vernal; Clayton and Sally Snow, Margaret and Steve Ellsworth, all So. Jordan;

Bryan and Allison Snow, Blanding; Stepchildren, Polly and Dan Karren, Kathy and Lanny Ross, all Roosevelt;

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 17, 1999, 11 a.m. at

the Roosevelt LDS West Stake Center, 10 South Skyline Drive (1000 West). Friends may call at the Hullinger- Olpin Mortuary, 457 E. 300 N., Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Friday at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment, Roosevelt Memorial Park.
