EAST CARBON--Jose "Jam" Amador Marquez, age 81, passed away on his birthday, March 18, 1999 at Castle County Care Center in Price.

He was born March 18, 1918 in Lumberton, New Mexico, to Pablo and Elisa Gonzales Marquez. Married Isabel Lujan June 28, 1938 in Chama, New Mexico. She died April 28, 1995. Member Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Resident of East Carbon since 1942. Former employee of U.S. Steel Horse Canyon Coal Mine prior to retiring in 1978. Retired member U.M.W.A. Local #8003. He enjoyed fishing, camping and most of all his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Survived by four sons, two daughters and their spouses: Paul and Delia Marquez; Virgil L. and Carol Marquez; Michael C. and Teri Marquez; Max and Nora Aragon; all of East Carbon; Margie A. Sanchez of West Jordan; Arvella S. Gallegos of Kearns; 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Mary Alice Martinez; grandson, Virgil L. Marquez; and son-in-law, Gary Gallegos.

Funeral mass, Monday, March 22, 1999, 10 a.m., Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Vigil service Monday 9:30 a.m. at the Church in East Carbon. Friends are welcome at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price Sunday from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Committal Service: Price City Cemetery.
