The Utah Starzz have hired two new members for their public relations staff and named a play-by-play broadcaster for the 1999 season that begins for them on June 12 in the Delta Center.
Tami Scott has been named media-relations manager, Erin Humble has been named assistant media and community relations manager, and Jeff Rickard has been named the radio play-by-play voice of the Starzz.Scott joins the Starzz from the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Hoops of the Continental Basketball Association, where she has been the team's director of communications since May 1998. She also assisted with press operations for the Detroit Shock of the WNBA from April through June 1998. She will graduate later this week from Grand Valley State College in Allendale, Mich., with a degree in public relations and will join the Starzz staff full-time on May 3.
Humble will graduate from Utah State University in May with a degree in public relations. She has served as public relations vice president for the Associated Students of Utah State University. Humble will be responsible for managing Starzz' community relations efforts as well as assisting in media relations and will also join the Starzz staff on May 3.
Rickard comes to the Starzz and KFAN 1320 AM radio from Denver, where he had worked at KKFN radio since 1995. While at KKFN, Rickard served as a talk show host and also spent time as studio host for the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche shows. He has also been the play-by-play voice of the MSL's Colorado Rapids and was KKFN's beat reporter for the Denver Broncos. Rickard has also been a part of the Colorado State sports network and has been the voice of the Western Athletic Conference since 1995, hosting its syndicated radio program.
