WEST VALLEY CITY (AP) -- John Stockton will get his kicks away from the basketball court this summer.

The NBA's career leader in assists and steals will be a part-owner of the Utah Freezz, an indoor soccer club which will debut in the World Indoor Soccer League in July. The team's name, logo, head coach and ownership structure were announced Wednesday on the floor of West Valley City's E Center, where Stockton spent much of the NBA lockout as the Zamboni driver for the IHL's Utah Grizzlies.

"(Stockton) felt this was something he could give back to the community," said Tim Mouser, president and chief operating officer for the Freezz and the Grizzlies.

"We presented this plan to him and he said that if he could help, he would. He may not get any richer, but it's a good youth-friendly deal for him."

The team's nickname makes it the sixth pro sports franchise in Utah with two Z's in its name.
