Douglas William Litchfield "Litch" died from a heart attack in Las Vegas, Nevada, July 12, 1999.
Born September 11, 1932 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Raised by loving parents, Carlyle and Fanny Woolley Coombs Litchfield in Raymond, Alberta, Canada.As a youth, he excelled in athletics and held numerous leadership positions. He was an Eagle Scout and fulfilled an LDS Mission to the North Central States. He worked for the Department of Public Works in Banff, Alberta, Canada and was a member of the Canadian Olympic Ski Team. He was active in theatre arts, ski instructor, and coached the Utah State University Ski Team. He graduated from USU in Civil Engineering.
He worked as a consulting engineer developing mining properties in Canada and Western United States. He was a believer in the future and what it could offer. "Litch" was blessed with a keen intellect, he loved books and writing. He enjoyed music and had a beautiful singing voice. He was quick witted and had a delightful sense of humor. He had served as Sunday School teacher, Scout Master and Cub Master.
Married Susan Louise Sorensen in the Manti Temple, March 19, 1964. Survived by: his wife, Lantz (Sarah), Lonn (Diana), Laryn, Lori and Lynn. Grandchildren: Tyler and Jadon. Sister: Norma (John) Smith. Preceded in death by parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 1999 in the Cottonwood 1st Ward Chapel, 5910 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 p.m. on July 16, 1999 at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive and at the ward on Saturday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
