AKRON, Ohio -- There was no need to be depressed.

Klaus Schmiegel and Bryan Molloy were among those inducted on Saturday into the National Inventors Hall of Fame for developing Prozac, the antidepressant drug introduced 11 years ago by Eli Lilly & Co.Ten people were inducted, adding to the 141 others already honored. It was the 27th induction ceremony since the first inductee, Thomas Edison, was enshrined in 1973.

Other honorees were:

Percy LeBaron Spencer, who invented the microwave oven.

George de Mestral, who invented Velcro.

Gerhard Sessler and James West, who created the type of microphone used in telephones.

Donald Campbell, Homer Martin, Eger Muphree and Charles Tyson who came up with a method of refining gasoline.
