DALLAS -- It has already been a good season for Hawaii, and it is only four games old.

Three weeks after ending an NCAA-leading 18-game losing skid with a win at home over Eastern Illinois, Hawaii stopped two road losing streaks with a 20-0 defeat of Southern Methodist.Hawaii snapped a 26-game road losing streak and a 15-game losing run in Western Athletic Conference road games.

"It just was our day," Hawaii coach June Jones said. "They had a couple of big plays called back. Some days they call those, some days it's a touchdown."

Hawaii hadn't won a league game on the mainland since a 41-21 defeat of UTEP in 1992. The Rainbows' last previous road win was 58-30 at UNLV in 1995. The shutout was its first since a 34-0 defeat of Southeast Missouri in 1994.

Dan Robinson threw for 304 yards and two touchdowns as Hawaii handed SMU its second straight home shutout, the first time that's happened in 39 years. SMU was beaten 26-0 by Arkansas three weeks ago.

"We just can't win football games if we have so many mistakes," SMU coach Mike Cavan said.

Cavan took all of the blame for the loss to Arkansas, but SMU players refused to blame the coaching staff for not preparing them for Hawaii.

"As a player, I'm going to say we didn't come out and play," said offensive lineman Austin Adami. "And we're going to put it on our shoulders this week."

Hawaii's Channon Harris scored on a 38-yard pass from Robinson to cap a two-play, 81-yard drive in the first quarter. Harris dropped what would have been a 64-yard touchdown on Hawaii's previous possession.

Robinson hit Craig Stutzman on a 13-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.

Eric Hannum kicked a career-long 50-yard field goal at the end of the first half to put the Rainbows ahead 10-0. Hannum made a 36-yarder as time expired, but had to re-kick after a face-mask penalty.

Hannum added a 42-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
