Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Their assignments will be announced later. Here are their names and biographical information:O. Omar and Beatriz Canals

Oscar Omar Canals, 51, Hunter 5th Ward, Salt Lake Hunter East Stake; high priests group leader; former Young Men General Board member, high councilor, Sunday School and Primary teacher, region sports priesthood adviser and stake public affairs director; international audio-visual specialist for Church; born in Montevideo, Uruguay, to Jacobo and Mercedes Rodriguez Canals; married Beatriz Belhot, five children. She is a Relief Society instructor; former nursery leader, counselor in ward Primary presidency and Young Women adviser; nurse; received bachelor's degree in nursing at Weber State University and attended University of Uruguay; born in Montevideo, Uruguay, to Jorge and Agelica Gatto Belhot.

Jeffrey N. and Julie Clayton

Jeffrey Newren Clayton, 44, Mueller Park 5th Ward, Bountiful Utah Mueller Park Stake; stake president; former stake executive secretary, bishop, high councilor, ward Young Men president, Scoutmaster, bishop's counselor and ward executive secretary; attorney; received juris doctorate from University of Utah; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Paul Algene and Hilder Lorna Newren Clayton; married Julie Marjorie McCallum, six children. She is a Sunday School gospel doctrine teacher; former Primary Achievement Day leader, Relief Society homemaking leader, Sunday School teacher for 15-year-olds, counselor in ward Primary presidency, ward Young Women president and counselor, and Laurel adviser; studied art at University of Utah; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Edward James and Julie Waagen McCallum.

Frieda and David B. Galbraith

David Brian Galbraith, 54, Provo Utah Oak Hills Stake; member of Missionary Training Center 63rd Branch presidency; former stake president, high councilor, Sunday School gospel doctrine teacher, district president, branch president, and missionary in the Swiss-Austrian Mission; professor of political science at BYU; received doctorate in international relations from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, master's degree in international relations and bachelor's degree in political science from BYU; born in Lethbridge, Alberta, to Bruce Van and Beth Heninger Galbraith; married Frieda Greta Lucile Kruger, five children. She is an ordinance worker in the Provo Utah Temple; former Relief Society teacher, Sunday School gospel doctrine teacher, branch Relief Society president, member of branch Primary presidency, and Sunday School teacher; Book of Mormon instructor for English-as-a-second-language students at BYU; received master's degree from Institute of Holy Land Studies (now Jerusalem University College) in Hebrew and Biblical studies and bachelor's degree from BYU in French and German; born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Filippus Johan and Jantje Kuiper Kruger.

Patsy and Henry D. Garrett

Ada Lu and Donald R. Hinton
