Our beloved father and grandfather, Sarkis Garouge Bezdjian, age 89, of Salt Lake City, died April 30, 2000 in a local hospital.
Born Feb. 16, 1911 in Aintab, Turkey to Garouge Bezdjian and Dudu Demirjian. Married Mary Ouzounian on Nov. 15, 1937 in Aleppo, Syria. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Came to America on Nov. 1, 1962. He was a lifelong member of the LDS Church.Survived by his children living in California, New York, Colorado and Utah: Hermine (Nazareth) Boyadjian, Garbis (Maida) Bezdjian, Joseph (Araxie) Bezdjian, Zaven (Ruthann) Bezdjian, Roberto (Melissa) Bezdjian, Asdghig (Albert) Shahinian, Hrair (Berjouhie) Bezdjian, Madeleine (Arshag) Shahinian, Louise Bezdjian, Raffie (AndraLynn) Bezdjian, Berdje (Ann) Bezdjian, Hilda Harding; 23 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife, Mary; son, Daniel; grandson, Vahe; and all his brothers and sisters.
Our father was a strong man, who with great sacrifice saw to it that his family was brought to the United States. He was filled with wisdom and had a great sense of humor. Despite so many mouths to feed and wounds to kiss, he always made each grandchild feel like the only one. "Dad, we love you and are happy that you are now with your beloved Mary".
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at 12 noon at East Mill Creek Stake Center, 3103 East Craig Drive (3600 South). Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, at the church, from 10:45-11:45 a.m., prior to services.
