Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Winston Lowell Benson Jr., returned home to his Heavenly Father on May 5, 2000. He suffered a heart attack shortly after playing an early morning basketball game with friends.

Born Jan. 9, 1938 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Winston and Cloris Butler Benson. He married Ann Balm-forth March 18, 1967 in the Oakland Cali-fornia Temple. Lowell loved his family, his church and life itself. He was a wonderful family man and loved his wife, two sons, three daughters and five grandchildren very much. He enjoyed a variety of family activities ranging from water-skiing at Lake Powell to traveling throughout the world. He especially enjoyed visiting amusement parks and riding on the wildest rides that could be found. He staged an intense Halloween display that people throughout the valley came to enjoy. He was one of Utah's Fathers of the Year for 1999.While completing a BS at Brigham Young University, he was actively involved in student government. He received his BS in 1962 and remained to complete a MBA in 1964. Although his academic tenure then ended, his love and devotion to BYU continue to this day. He was most recently the National Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Marriott School of Management. He was also a member of the National Advisory Council to the M.S.M.

He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served his church in many capacities. He was a missionary in the Great Lakes Mission. As a natural leader, he was chosen to serve in many High Councils, Bishoprics, and as First Counselor in the Stake Presidency and was presently serving as President of the Mt. Olympus North Stake.

Lowell's career included four years as a salesman for Procter & Gamble before joining the O. C. Tanner Co. in Salt Lake City where he would complete 30 years of service on May 13, 2000. While at O. C. Tanner Co. he was SR Vice President handling financial matters and the acquisitions of precious metals and diamonds. He truly loved his work and the people with whom he associated.

He is survived by his wife Ann; five children: Scott (Jill), Heather (Allen) Tracy, Chad (Rockell), Jonna (Dale) Capener and Megan; brothers: L. Jay (Sharon), Jerry (Calleen); and his parents, Winston and Cloris Benson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kaye Redmond.
