The Jazz on Thursday received the resignation of Mike Shimensky, their team trainer for the past six seasons.

Shimensky, who also has worked as a trainer for the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Clippers, is leaving to take a similar position with the Seattle Sonics, whose own trainer, Frank Furtado, is retiring after 26 seasons with that team.Jazz basketball operations vice president Kevin O'Connor said Shimensky, a graduate of Central Washington University, cited a desire to move closer to his former home as one of the primary reasons for departing.
