Although he's into religious programming, Bob Alzugarat of KANN (AM-1120, Ogden) is yet another Utah radio veteran. He's been on KANN more than 20 years, having started there on Feb. 1, 1980.
He was omitted from a July 7 "Radio Dial" on Utah radio veterans.
Alzugarat is also the station manager, and he does a "Rise and Shine" show weekdays from 6-8 a.m.
He started part-time in radio back in 1976 during his Weber State University days, and so his Utah broadcasting career stretches to more than 24 years.
He doesn't have quite the longevity of Tom Barberi of KALL or "Country Joe" of KSOP, but he's been around a long time at the same station.
KANN is Utah's oldest religious radio station. It offers an evangelical Christian program format.
ANOTHER OLD KDYL SUBSTITUTE — Those listeners still missing the nostalgic musical format of AM-1280 after its switch to all-talk may have another option. Besides KLO (AM-1430), there's also KKDS (AM-1060), which offers an "all-American classics" music format.
STRONGER KFVR? — "Fever" FM-107.9, Utah's "movin' oldies" station may have improved its signal up north. Joey Santarelli of Roy reports that he can now pick up the station in Weber County.
The new station just started up in the spring and may have beefed up its signal with a transmitter in the Promontory Mountains.
PARADE KING — When it comes to parades, the most common radio entry in recent years has been KSOP. The station recently participated in the Fourth of July parades all along the Wasatch Front, including Kaysville, Magna, Sandy, Murray and others.
It also participated in American Fork's Steel Days Parade and the Farmington Festival Days Parade.
KSOP even provided synchronized music for Tooele County's Independence Day fireworks.
KSOP was also active in the annual Days of '47 horse parade this week.
