Diamondbacks 5, Phillies 1

PHILADELPHIA — Former Salt Lake Buzz catcher Damian Miller had a career-high four hits and drove in two runs, and Armando Reynoso pitched 7 2/3 strong innings as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-1 Wednesday to complete a three-game sweep.

Miller was 7-for-13 in the series as Arizona won its fourth straight. Reynoso (10-7) allowed one run and six hits. He struck out seven, walked one and retired 16 consecutive batters at one point.

Byung-Hyun Kim struck out Scott Rolen to end a first-and-third, two-out threat in the eighth. Matt Mantei pitched a scoreless ninth, despite loading the bases.

Bruce Chen (6-2) took the loss.

BRAVES 4, PADRES 1: At Atlanta. Kevin Millwood gave up one hit over six shutout innings before leaving with a knee injury in Atlanta's win.

Millwood left with a strained left patella tendon after making four warm-up pitches before the seventh inning. He is not expected to miss a start.

The Braves, who completed a three-game sweep, went ahead 1-0 when Andres Galarraga hit his 24th homer with two outs in the fourth.

CARDINALS 5, CUBS 1: At Chicago. Edgar Renteria hit a three-run homer to help Darryl Kile post his 14th win and lead St. Louis.

Renteria's 13th homer off Kevin Tapani (8-9) ended a five-game homerless streak by the Cardinals, their longest of the season. Shawon Dunston also hit a solo homer, his 10th, in the seventh.

ROCKIES 7, METS 5: At New York. Brian Bohanon (7-8) shut down his former team until the eighth inning, and Todd Helton was in the middle of two late bursts that led Colorado over New York.

Helton went 1-for-4, dropping his major league-leading average one point to .395. He was hit by a pitch in the sixth, setting up a three-run inning, and doubled during a three-run eighth that made it 7-1.

GIANTS 4, EXPOS 1: At Montreal. Barry Bonds hit his 35th homer and Mark Gardner (8-6) pitched seven strong innings to lead San Francisco past Montreal.

The win allowed the NL West-leading Giants to remain one game ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

DODGERS 10, MARLINS 4: At Miami. Struggling Los Angeles erupted for seven runs in the eighth inning, including Dave Hansen's tiebreaking two-run triple, to rally past Florida.

The Dodgers, who lost eight of their previous 10 games, blew a 3-1 lead before coming back. Pinch-hitter Adrian Beltre capped the outburst in the eighth with a three-run homer.

BREWERS 5, REDS 1: At Milwaukee. Jeff D'Amico earned his seventh straight victory, and Richie Sexson homered for the second straight game as Milwaukee completed its first sweep of Cincinnati.

Sexson, playing in his 16th game since being acquired from Cleveland, hit the first pitch from Rob Bell (5-7) for his fifth homer following a two-out single by Geoff Jenkins.

ASTROS 11, PIRATES 10: At Houston. Houston hit six home runs for the second time in four days, and Moises Alou hit his fifth home run in four games.
