WEST POINT - Dean Jay Manning, age 71, passed away Saturday September 16, 2000.
He was born Nov. 5, 1928 in West Point, UT the son of John W. and Martha Lucille Page Manning. He married Ardis Gard-ner June 16, 1953 in the Logan LDS Tem-ple. Dean was a member of the West Point LDS 1st Ward and served as a Sun-day School teacher, mutual presidency, Elders Quorum president, ward clerk for two bishoprics, counselor in the bishopric and historical clerk for the stake presidency.
Dean has served his community since 1968 by being the director of Hooper Irrigation Company, president and a board member of the Canning Crops for Davis and Weber Counties A member and chairman of the ASCS Committee and the Davis County Soil Conservation Committee. He drove a school bus for 32 years. Dean has a great love for his family and his fellow man. He has been an asset to those who associate with him. Dean lived in Layton for four years and then moved to West Point where he has spent the remainder of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ardis, of 47 years, West Point, UT; three daughters and one son, Connie Drury (Jeffery), Clearfield; JaNae Manning, West Point; Lynn Manning (Diane), West Point; Kathy Ballingham, Clinton; 10 grandchildren, Melanie, Emily, Jason, Abby, Josh, Michael, Lori, Jake, Amy, Tami; and one brother, Stanley P. Manning (Connie), West Point. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha Lucille Manning.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday Sept. 21, 2000, West Point LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 4383 W. 300 N, with Bishop Chad Perkins officiating. Friends and family may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. and at the church Thurs. 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment, West Point City Cemetery.
