Keith LaVell Gurr, 74, returned home in answer to a new calling from his Heavenly Father on January 8, 2001 after enduring Hodgkins Disease and its treatment.
He was born to Mary Ann Edwards and Thomas Marsh Gurr on April 20, 1926 in Provo, Utah. He was blessed with a loving Daddy, Loren "Wells" (Pop) Duke. He married Ruth Naomi Partridge in the Salt Lake Temple in 1946. They were divorced in 1950, and remarried in 1995. He married Delma Peterson Smith in Nevada in 1950, marriage later solemnized in the temple; they were divorced in 1995. Keith attended school in Provo, served in the Navy in World War II, hauled coal, ran the Green Grove fruit stands in Utah County with his brothers and owned the Covered Wagon Riding Stables in Draper; he always loved horses. He was a member of the LDS Church, and loved being an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple.
He is survived by his sweet wife, Ruth Naomi; children: Karl Gurr (Pat), Julene Wooden (Mel), Dena Rae Cronin (Trooper), GayNell Gibbons (Jim), Jeff Gurr (Rhonda), Darla Hendrickson (Mike) and Darlene Mace (Carey); stepmother, Belle Gurr; brother, Tom Gurr (Helen); sisters, Margie Barnes (Bud), Ginger Fox (Jim), Grace Jensen (Russell), Maxine Miller (Dale), Maurine Payne (Lawrence) and Jane Tanner (Ron). He was preceded in death by brother, Carl Gurr and sisters, Baby Leona and Ruby Cox and friend, Smokey.
Services will be held Friday, January 12, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Hidden Oaks Chapel, 11755 South Highland Drive, Sandy, where friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. or at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East, from 6 to 8 Thursday evening. Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery.
Donations to the LDS Church missionary fund will be welcomed in lieu of flowers.
