BEAR HOLLOW ? Todd Hays of Del Rio, Texas, will lead the U.S. men's four-man bobsled team in World Cup competition during the lead-up to the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Olympics.

Saturday, following two days of trials at the Utah Olympic Park near Park City, the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation named men's teams for this season's World Cup competition. Women's teams were announced last week.

Hays' teammates in the USA 1 four-man bobsled will be Garrett Hines and Randy Jones, both of Atlanta, and Pavel Jovanovic, Toms Hill, N.J.; Dan Steele, Davenport, Iowa, team alternate.

USA 2 will be piloted by veteran Brian Shimer, Naples, Fla., with this crew: Mike Kohn, Chantilly, Va.; Doug Sharp, Jeffersonville, Ind.; and Jeff Laynes, Oakland.

Named to USA 3 were Mike Dionne, Alpharetta, Ga.; Jamey Sperly, Reva, S.D.; Steve Mesler, Buffalo, N.Y.; and Justin Orr, Minooka, Ill. Chad Smith of Ypsilanti, Mich., is national team alternate.
