TEMPLE SQUARE CONCERT SERIES, Dec. 16-23, beginning at 4 p.m., Temple Square venues and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Free. Various musical groups from around the region will perform holiday numbers.

THE GERMAN CHORUS HARMONIE, Dec. 16, 7 p.m., Granite Stake Tabernacle. Free. The chorus, directed by Franziska Fleischer, will perform traditional German Christmas music.

CHRISTMAS CAROL SING-IN, FEATURING LAVELL EDWARDS, Dec. 17, 7 p.m., Delta Center. Free. The former Brigham Young University football coach will join director Robert C. Bowden and his Generations of Sound choir for a reading of " 'Twas the Night Before Christmas." Also on tap is an appearance from Santa Claus and roving choir groups throughout the Delta Center Halls. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Now in its second year, the Odyssey program is a Christmas celebration of dance, music and singing. David Osmond and pianist Brett Raymond are among the musical guests.

MOUNTAIN WEST BALLET, "THE NUTCRACKER," Dec. 20-22, 7 p.m., Mt. Jordan Middle School, Sandy. Admission is $10 at the door. The Sandy Arts Guild is sponsoring this event, which includes new choreography by renowned Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo dancer Kenneth Kreel.

"GLORIA: THE LIFE OF CHRIST," Dec. 21, 8 p.m., Abravanel Hall. Tickets are $10-$30 through ArtTix (355-ARTS). This third annual oratorio concert will feature George Dyer as Gabriel and Mindy Smoot as Mary. The score will be performed by the Millennium Symphony Orchestra and Choir, directed by composer Lex de Azevedo.

WINTER SOLSTICE CONCERT FEATURING THE LARRY JACKSTIEN QUINTET, Dec. 21, 7 p.m., St. Mark's Cathedral. Free, but donations will be accepted at the door. The quintet will perform jazz holiday music in the George Shearing style. The group will also perform classic jazz works. Jazz aficionado Wes Bowen will begin the concert with a poem paying tribute to the Winter Solstice.

SALT LAKE SYMPHONIC CHOIR, Dec. 22, 7:30 p.m., First Presbyterian Church. Donations accepted at the door. The Salt Lake Symphonic Choir will present a Christmas concert as part of the KSL Quarters for Christmas program.
