Patricia June Christensen Bennett Hill, of Bountiful, Utah passed away on April 15, 2001 of a brain hemorrhage.
She was born in Ephraim, Utah June 5, 1920, the daughter of Oscar Oved and Mary Lund Christensen. Her education was in Ephraim and she graduated from Snow College. She worked at Fort Douglas during World War II as a secretary. She met William Hunter Bennett when he returned from World War II and they were married April 12, 1950 in the Logan Temple. He was the Dean of Agriculture and Director of Extension Services at Utah State University from 1950 to 1970 when he was called to be an Assistant to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and became a member of the First Quorum of Seventy in 1972. While living in Logan they had six children: Camille, Brad, Mary Ann, Julee, Deborah and Jacqueline. They moved to Bountiful in 1972 with the children who went to Bountiful High School and BYU.
Patricia loved music and enjoyed singing. She belonged to a USU Faculty Wives Quartet and sang for many occasions while living in Logan. She participated in ward and stake choirs throughout her life. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she served in many meaningful capacities through the years and was a great support to her husband. Bill passed away July 23, 1980. She was later a temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple for ten years, and served a mission at the Hawaiian temple.
In 1995 she met a former boy friend from the forties who had lost his wife, and on July 13, 1995 she married Earl F. Hill in the Bountiful Temple. They have enjoyed nearly six years of life together. Between the two families they have enjoyed their 13 children, 68 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her current husband: Earl F. Hill and his six children: Elaine (Dave) Thomas, Roy; Jay (Sheri) Hill, Layton; Connie (Rick) Haddon, Bountiful; Larry (Sharon) Hill, Layton; Julieanne (Don) Higgs, South Weber; Brent (Moana) Hill, Uinta; Barbara (Chuck) Hawkins, Roy and 38 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her six children: Camille (Dave) Foster, Marlboro, MA; William Bradford Bennett, Las Vegas; Mary Ann (Bruce) Richter, Sandy; Julee (Scott) Wright, American Fork; Deborah (Jay) Mohlman, Bountiful; Jackie (Curtis) Child, Bountiful and 30 grandchildren. Pat is survived also by three brothers and one sister: Dean C. Christensen, Ronald Dwain Christensen, Jerald Mac Ray Christensen, and Kay Anna Christensen Foulger. Preceding her in death: Her first husband: Elder William H. Bennett and three brothers and one sister: Walton Joseph Christensen, Eugene Oscar Christensen, Trevor Lund Christensen, and Hazel Margaret Mortensen.
Patricia has been a wonderful friend to everyone she has met on this earth. She had a unique zest for life and a love of learning. She enjoyed sharing with all she knew and had endless friends. We will miss our sweet mother and grandmother who gave so generously of herself. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held at the Bountiful Hills Ward chapel, 1190 East Bountiful Hills Drive (900 South) Bountiful Utah, 12 noon Thursday April 19, 2001. Friends and family may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 No. Main, Bountiful and Thursday 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
