OREM — Caldera International Inc., a Linux-based company, said Monday it has acquired the assets of the WhatifLinux technology from Acrylis Inc.
Terms of the transaction were not announced.
WhatifLinux technology provides Open Source users and system administrators with Internet-delivered tools and services for faster, more reliable software management.
The move will allow Caldera to extend its Linux management product, Caldera Volution, to include online software management. The solution will be named Volution Online. It monitors the software assets running on single systems and networks of Linux servers and delivers support alerts based on the information the user needs.
Reg Broughton, previously president and chief executive officer of Acrylis, has joined Caldera as general manager and senior vice president and will lead Caldera's management technologies initiative. Allan Cantos, previously chief technical officer of Acrylis, will lead the engineering team based in Chelmsford, Mass., on behalf of Caldera.
