BOSTON — Laurie Schwoy scored on a header off a corner kick in the 83rd minute to lead the Philadelphia Charge a 3-2 victory over the Boston Breakers on Sunday in the WUSA.
Schwoy redirected a corner kick by Michelle Demko past Boston goalkeeper Tracy Ducar, capping a three-goal outburst in a six-minute span late in the game.
Liu Ailing had two goals for the Charge (3-1-1). Ailing scored on high shot from 25 yards in the 36th minute and added a breakaway goal in the 77th minute.
Dagny Mellgren scored two minutes in for Boston (2-2-2), and Maren Meinert converted a free kick in the 81st minute.
FREEDOM 2, POWER 1: At Uniondale, N.Y., Bai Jie deflected a corner kick by Mia Hamm in stoppage time for her second goal of the game, helping Washington snap New York's five-game unbeaten streak.
Jie also scored in the third minute for the Freedom (3-1-2).
Ann Kristin Aarones scored off a header by Sara Whalen in the 78th minute for the Power (2-1-3).
BEAT 1, CYBERRAYS 0: At San Jose, Calif., Charmaine Hooper scored in the 13th minute, and Atlanta extended its unbeaten streak to six games with a victory over Bay Area.
Sun Wen crossed a corner kick to midfielder Amy Walsh, who headed the ball to Cindy Parlow who back-kicked the ball toward the goal; Hooper tapped it in.
