OREM — Morinda Inc., a multilevel marketing company that distributes Tahitian Noni Juice, reported it reached $1 billion in total sales.
Kerry Asay, president and chief executive officer, said he didn't expect the company to reach $1 billion after just five years. The company began operations July 1, 1996.
Since its beginning, Morinda has expanded operations to more than 20 countries and territories. In 2001, Morinda opened operations in Singapore, with additional expansion planned for Europe.
Noni is a fruit that grows on the Morinda citrifolia tree and is found in tropical climates.
The company has 350,000 distributors throughout North America, Europe, Asia and South America.
An all-day celebration will be held in Orem Saturday at the Mountain View High School, and offices in more than 20 countries will be holding open houses and celebrations throughout July.
