The Rookie Comic Strip is back. Beginning Monday, Peter Murphey's "Hippy and Pop" will appear on the Deseret News' daily comic pages to try out for a permanent spot.

The strip stars Alan McLusky — a k a Hippy — a child of the '60s who sports a ponytail and works as a game programmer and designer for a kids video-game company. His father, Eugene, is Pop, who is retired from the customer service department at the Registry of Motor Vehicles. He lives with Alan and Alan's family and spends a lot of his time complaining to his congressman.

We invite you to give this strip a try and then give us your opinion about it — and other Deseret News comic strips. E-mail your thoughts to features@desnews.com or mail them to Rookie Comic Strip, c/o Deseret News Features, 30 E. 100 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84111.
