Stanley Lynn Mortensen, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and friend unexpectedly rejoined his Father in Heaven on October 3, 2002.
He was born in Salt Lake City on June 13, 1942 and graduated from Carbon High School in 1961. Stan married Gaylynn Harrison on August 10, 1962 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a kind-hearted, caring man who was never too busy to help others. He was mechanically gifted, loved working with his hands and could fix anything. Stan enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with his family. He was an avid car racer and long-time member of the Salt Lake Valley Racing Association. Stan dedicated his life to his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by: his mother Isabell Marshall, mother-in-law Amy Beal, three siblings Earl Marshall, Sandra Winn and Wesley Marshall; his wife, his children Amy Lorraine, David (his wife Melanie), Jason (his fiance Christina), Philip (his wife Kimber), his grandchildren Jaymz, Daniel, Livia and Melissa and many dear friends.
A viewing will be held on Monday October 7, 2002 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary located at 6500 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday October 8, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Golden Meadows Second Ward located at 12681 South 3600 West, Riverton, Utah, with a one hour viewing prior to the services. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery immediately following the services.
