The Nevada Gaming Commission has approved the sale of the Silver Smith Casino Resort in Wendover to Wendover Casinos Inc., an affiliate of Reno-based Peppermill Casinos Inc.
The Silver Smith was set to reopen today as Montego Bay Casino Resort, a Jamaican-themed property.
In October, Peppermill joined with Generation 2000 in a bidding war to buy the bankrupt State Line and Silver Smith Casino Resorts. A Nevada bankruptcy court approved a $55 million bid by the two parties.
Under terms of that sale, Generation 2000 purchased the State Line and Peppermill gained ownership of the Silver Smith, the smaller of the two casinos/hotels.
Peppermill already operates the Peppermill Hotel Casino in Reno, Western Village Inn and Casino in Sparks, Rainbow Club Casino in Henderson, and the Peppermill Hotel Casino and Rainbow Hotel Casino both in West Wendover.
