Canadian bishop drowns in the ocean in Florida

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — A Catholic bishop from Montreal drowned in the ocean while vacationing in Florida, officials said.

The Rev. Sleiman Hajjar, 51, died Sunday after friends found him floating, blue-faced and unconscious, near the shore. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, fire-rescue officials said.
