MURRAY - Ephraim G. Hawkins, 94, of Murray, UT and former Malad, ID resident, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, April 5, 2002, surrounded by his family.

He was born Dec 25, 1908 in Malad, a son of Ephraim T. and Rachel Griffiths Hawkins. He mar-ried Ethel Wanda Sasser July 30, 1930 in the Lo-gan LDS Temple. He was a high priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served faithfully for many years in various callings. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Eph and Ethel lived in Malad for many years, where he worked as a barber. In 1957 they moved to Murray where he worked as a correctional officer at the Utah State Prison.

Eph will be remembered for his keen sense of humor and devotion to his family.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel, Murray; three daughters, Orpha (Lloyd) Waldron, Pocatello, Helen Lewis, serving and LDS mission in WV, Kathy (Larry) Taylor, Sandy, UT; one son, Delon (Pat) Hawkins, Murray, UT; 24 grandchildren; 67 great-grand-children; 10 great great-grandchil-dren; one brother, Farrell (Darlene) Hawkins, Murray; and sister-in-law, Thelma Hawkins, Malad. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Edna Leavitt, Thella Doss, Rhea Moss, Edith Rainwater; two brothers, Joe Hawkins, Griff Hawkins; three great-grandchildren, Hawkin Sweeten, Austin Paul Youngberg, Megan Christine Taylor; one daughter-in-law, Linda Tavey Hawkins; and one son-in-law, Boyd Eugene Lewis.

Services will be Wed. April 10, 2002, 12 noon, Murraydale LDS Ward Chapel, 6300 S. 3rd E., Murray. Friends may call at the church Tues. April 9, 6-8 p.m. and Wed. 10:30-11:30 a.m. Burial, Thurs. April 11, 12 noon, Malad City, ID Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post #65. Friends may call at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad, ID Thurs, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
